To our valued patients,
After much deliberation, our practice is making an important change – Effective March 1, 2026, we will continue to accept and treat Delta Dental patients in our practice, although we will be changing our network status with Delta Dental. In recent years dentistry has had advancements that we only once thought possible. From digital 3D impressions and x-rays, to digital smile designs, our team at Newport Beach Dental is proud to be on the cutting edge of dental technology. Additionally, in a time where most doctor visits are increasingly rushed and impersonal, we’ve made the conscious intention to be punctual, spend quality time with you, and get to know you, so we can provide exceptional service every visit.
Over the last few years, it has become increasingly difficult to practice as in-network providers with Delta Dental, and continue to provide the high quality of care that we value and promise to our patients. We are unwilling to compromise our standard of excellence by cutting corners to conform to the restrictions that Delta Dental places on their in-network providers. We have reached a point where we cannot offer the same high-quality dentistry we value under their contract. Rather than lower the high standards we have maintained, we have chosen to change our preferred status with Delta Dental to Out-Of-Network. For more information, please read our FAQ’s below.
What this means for you:
We are here to help in whatever capacity we can. Delta Dental does not share out-of-network plan benefits with us. They become even more difficult to work with when one chooses not to play their game. Please know this was a difficult decision for our practice to make, as we know this will have some affect on many of you, some who have been with our practice for a long time.
We hope that the care you have received from us and the partnership that we have built as advocates for your oral health will encourage you to continue with our practice. However, if you choose to seek care from a new dentist, please let us know and we will help with the transition. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our practice.
Because we want you to feel informed and confident, our trusted cosmetic dentist has answered some of the most frequently asked questions we receive regarding our change in relationship status with Delta Dental. As always, we’re here to support you through every step of your smile journey, and we welcome any questions you may have.
As of March 1st, 2026 we are changing our relationship status with Delta Dental from an in-network provider to an out-of-network provider.
No, we are not dropping Delta, we are changing our relationship status with Delta. While we are no longer in-network, we will still accept and treat patients with Delta Dental insurance. Your benefits can still be used in our office.
No, you can continue to receive care at Newport Beach Dental. The only exception would be in the rare case that your employer or specific plan requires it. We hope the high-quality honest care and service we have consistently provided will encourage you to continue with our practice. However, if you choose to seek care from a new dentist we will help with the transition.
Yes, we will handle the billing process as we always have. However, you will pay in full at the time of treatment for any services rendered, and the insurance payment will be sent directly to you.
Yes, Delta Dental will send correspondence suggesting you seek dental care elsewhere. You do not need to change offices, we are still here to serve you.
This change will officially take place as of March 1st, 2026.
Your annual maximum per your insurance plan will likely remain the same. However, there will be changes to the reimbursement rates. We have asked Delta multiple times what the new reimbursement rates will be, but they have refused to give us any details. The most accurate path to understand the changes to your specific plan would be to proceed as usual with your next scheduled dental visit. We will then bill your insurance and reimbursements should be received within 1-2 weeks. At that point, you will have exact numbers and will be able to make informed decisions. As always, our front desk team is here to assist you.
Yes, you will pay in full for any services completed during your dental visit. Delta Dental will then send their reimbursement check directly to you.
Many dentists are leaving the Delta Dental network due to the mismatch between rising costs and stagnant reimbursement rates as well as the administrational burden of their constant denial of basic claims. In the early 2000’s Delta Dental cancelled their ideal plan for all dental providers to maintain higher profits. They have continuously cut reimbursement rates and increased premiums. It is for these reasons and many more that both the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association have been in decade long lawsuits with Delta Dental. Delta is a multi-billion dollar company and will not support dentists like many other insurance companies will.
